Home Before Dark season 1 released on Apple TV+ April 3rd, 2020, nearly two months before the season premiered, Apple confirmed the second season renewal. The series is based on the life of Hilde Lysiak (now 13 years old), it is a work of fiction and a mystery style story, the main protagonist is 11 year old Hilde Lisko, who considers herself a journalist, she is also a daughter of a journalist.
Home Before Dark is set to follow “a young girl (played by Brooklynn Prince) who moves from Brooklyn to the small lakeside town her father left behind. While there, her dogged pursuit of the truth leads her to unearth a cold case that everyone in town, including her own father tried hard to bury.” – Apple TV+
The show is enjoyable and suitable for bingeing with an audience approval of 80% on rotten tomatoes review website, it is rated M for a mature audience.
Developed by Dana Fox and Dara Resnik, they had a lot of material to work with basing the idea on real life events. The mystery is intriguing as it unfolds around small town relationships, Brooklyn Prince’s performance is strong and believable as Hilde who’s belief in herself and her life ambitions are as intriguing as the mystery. The television series is based on books, of which there are currently six. There are parts of this story that we haven’t seen before, but it’s not perfect, it can be a bit slow in places but overall very enjoyable.
