Cooking shows abound, the ratings are phenomenal, and people are talking. MasterChef is everywhere from the U.S. to Australia and the UK, and this stuff is rating its socks off. MasterChef Australia airs on Channel Ten, but food porn is everywhere from Instagram to Netflix having their original chef show.

The surprising thing is people are talking about these shows, just recently we had a debate or let’s say a heated discussion with friends over the placement of sauce when serving. These reality TV shows are taking on a life of their own, alongside the new genre of binge watching.

Voltron: Legendary Defender

Produced by DreamWorks Animation and World Events Productions this animation series is an intergalactic battle against evil forces. The anime, adventure is a newcomer to anime, with Netflix distributing the series. The series is stunning to watch, the sense of humour is a nice touch.

Outcast, is a new hopeful on the block put together by Fox (available on Foxtel for Australians). A lot of splash has surrounded this new original series, created by Robert Kirkman the creator of The Walking Dead. Outcast has been promoted at Comic Cons, SXSW 2016, and an interview up on IndieWire.

Teasers abound in episode 1 with The X-Files poster appearing in a scene as if to say this guy wants to believe there is something else going on or possibly he wants others to believe him? Either way at this point in time Robert Kirkman is not sharing, preferring to give a generic answer but with a bonus teaser of the viewer might think something will happen but it won’t. Time will tell if this will live up to the writers hopes for the series.

A slasher, horror, thriller TV series is back for a second season of screaming and social media apps. Each episode is reflecting on the genre in the titles, giving the show a bit of a twist by looking back on the past. This seems to be a bit of a trend at the moment with Outcast doing something similar. The presumption will be that a twist might be involved or a cliff hanger reference? We will have to wait and see.

American Pickers

An American reality TV show which premiered on the History channel in 2010, this show is gold as Mike and Frank travel around their country looking at private collections. People’s lives unfold as they share their collections, stories, and interests, the television series is a modern day story of people’s hobbies. The hidden treasure in this series is Mike and Frank aren’t therapists telling people how they should live their lives. Instead, they get to share some of their life and the joy of collecting.
